In addition to Discipleship Classes on Sunday mornings, our church welcomes children and youth to grow together in their faith on Wednesday nights during the school year and through other activities as well. We offer Sonshine Club at the church for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade, BIC (Bible Instruction Class) at the parsonage for 7th and 8th grade students, and youth group at the parsonage for 9th-12th grade students.
Sonshine Club is for children from Kindergarten through 6th grade. They meet at church each Wednesday evening during the school year from 6-8 pm to play games, sing, learn Bible verses and meet together for a Bible lesson in a fun, exciting atmosphere just for them.
The children earn tokens during each evening for bringing their Bibles to club, participating in the weekly activity, memorizing verses, being on the winning team at game time and good sportsmanship. The tokens can be spent for prizes at the end of the evening at the "Trading Post."
There are special activities throughout the year: opening night's welcome back to club with a hot dog roast, Christmas caroling with hot chocolate and cookies, gym night, pizza and game night and camp night where they visit Lake Lundgren Bible Camp.
The year ends with a special awards night. Parents and friends are invited to share with the children as they receive an award for working in their memory verse book.
Junior high youth (7th and 8th grades) spend their evenings studying the Bible through BIC (Bible Instruction Class), playing games, singing songs and enjoying fellowship with each other.
At the end of their 8th grade year, a special graduation ceremony is held for BIC students, where they make a short presentation on something they have learned through the program.
Our Junior High and Senior High both love to attend Winterfest at Lake Lundgren Bible Camp in December! We also encourage and support students who want to attend Lake Lundgren Bible Camp each summer.
Our senior high youth have a weekly lesson, singing and games, and special outings during the year: the Forest Lakes District Youth Conference in January, the Senior Banquet at LLBC, and Pizza Hut/Jo to Go in May.
Both junior and senior high youth meet in the basement of the parsonage on Wednesday nights during the school year from 6-8pm. The address is 410 N US Hwy 41 in Carney. To avoid opposing traffic on the narrow driveway, please enter from above (off of Morningside Drive) and leave from below (straight down to 41).
